Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board Announces Upcoming In-Person Consultations for Proposed Dispensary Locations

The Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board (KCCB) wishes to inform the community of upcoming in-person consultations with residents living within close proximity to proposed dispensary locations.

As part of the review process, the KCCB emphasizes the importance of direct engagement with residents within a 300-meter radius of the proposed dispensary sites. This initiative ensures that those who may be most directly impacted have the opportunity to provide input, raise concerns, and share feedback specific to the location of the dispensaries.

By “in-person consultation,” the KCCB means that Board members will be personally visiting the households of these residents, speaking to them face-to-face to ensure meaningful engagement.

The KCCB will be visiting these residences on Saturday, November 16, 2024, between 9am and 4:30pm. This will be the first of our in-person consultations, and we may not reach everyone during this initial visit. If we are unable to meet with you, please await future announcements for additional consultation opportunities. During these visits, information about the proposed dispensary locations will be provided, and forms will be available for community members to express their views. The feedback collected will be considered in the next phase of the review process.

This community consultation requirement, particularly for residents within a 300-meter radius, is mandated under Section 31(e) and Section 32 of the Regulation Concerning Dispensaries and Dispensary Licences.

The KCCB remains committed to conducting a transparent and thorough review, ensuring that any approved dispensary operates in accordance with the law and its regulations. For further information about the regulatory framework, the Regulation Concerning Dispensaries and Dispensary Licences, or the consultation process, please contact the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board via email cannabis.board@mck.ca.
