The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that Ms. Kary Robertson has been appointed as an Alternate Member of the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board (KCCB) for a two-year term, effective immediately. Her term will run until September 3, 2026.
This appointment follows the enactment of the Regulation Concerning Alternate Board Members under the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Law (KCCL), which was passed by the MCK through Mohawk Council Executive Directive (MCED) #43 2024-2025 on June 17, 2024.
As per Section 4 of the Regulation Concerning Alternate Board Members, Ms. Robertson may be called upon to serve on the KCCB when necessary to ensure a quorum during meetings and decision-making processes. This could include temporarily replacing a Board member who is unable to participate due to circumstances such as illness or conflict of interest.
The Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board is tasked with regulating, enforcing, and administering the KCCL in alignment with the best interests of the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke. Board members are responsible for adhering to principles of health, safety, security, honesty, and integrity while administering the law in a manner that is consistent with local, federal, and provincial laws related to cannabis.
